In collaboration with the Sahisnatha Education & Charitable Trust and the Sastrinagar Ayyappa Samajam, the VHS-SECT and SAS Neonatology and Children’s Ward was opened in February 2003 to provide emergency and other essential post-natal care for newborns.

The neonatal services provided are:

• 24 hours emergency newborn care

• Resuscitation services

• Intensive care with minimal equipment

• Essential newborn care at post-natal wards

Also provided are:

• Location and counselling to promote exclusive breast feeding for 6 months for all mothers

• Immunisation and OP services for older children

• Follow-up care for low birth weight and pre-term babies
