VHS - Rotary Club of Madras Senior Citizens’s Centre(RCMSC)
Funded by the Rotary Club of Madras Charitable Trust, a Senior Citizen Centre
has been set up at VHS, the objective being to provide a centre for senior
citizens having access to a hospital where medical attention can be availed of
in case of necessity, and all other facilities are within easy reach.
The first one of five apartment
blocks, with four double-bedded rooms in it,
was opened in January 2004. The rooms have attached baths, pantry, and
verandah,
and are fully furnished.

A centralised solar water heater system with a back-up geyser
is also installed.
Periodic visits are made by a doctor for
free medical consultation for the
senior citizens at the centre. Under the VHS membership scheme, for a nominal
fee of about Rs. 30 per year, charges for special consultations, check-ups, and
treatment, etc., are available at concessional rates for the residents. The
Rotary Club may also, if required, arrange for special free medical check-ups in
the centre by Rotarian doctors who are specialists in their respective fields.
